چکیده

Web services requirements for means of automating the coordination of distributed heterogeneous applications have been addressed by a twopronged initiative. One has been driven by process management technologies, represented by the compositional language BPEL4WS, and the other by the Semantic Web technologies, represented by ontologies and agents. The framework presented in this paper integrates agent technology with BPEL4WS, to enable two levels of coordination, namely local and centralised coordination through composition, and wider, distributed coordination by means of negotiation between agents. This framework takes advantage of the efficient management of processes in BPEL4WS and of the flexibility and versatility of agents. A design and run-time environment, called SOA, has been developed to evaluate the feasibility of the framework.

Modelling Cooperative Behaviour for Resource Access in a Compositional Multi-Agent Framework*

Modelling and formally specifying agent knowledge required to deal with limited access to resources in a multi-agent situation, is the focus of this paper. Not only the static elements involved but also the dynamic elements, namely the behaviour of the system, is explicitly modelled and specified. It will be shown how this results in a flexible, compositional specification that is applicable to...

Design of a Modelling Framework for Multi-Agent Systems*

Multi-agent systems can be successfully modelled and specified as interacting complex components in a compositional architecture. Compared to the specification of single agent compositional systems, the specification of multi-agent systems requires additional design (or modelling) choices. In this paper, design choices regarding interaction and autonomy of compositional models of intelligent ag...

Organizational Learning and Knowledge Spillover in Innovation Networks: Agent-Based Approach (Extending SKIN Framework)

In knowledge-based economy, knowledge has a public good and non-rivalry nature. Firms build their own knowledge stock not only by means of internal R&D and collaboration with partners, but also by means of previously spilled over knowledge of other firms and public research laboratories (such as universities). Firms based on their absorptive capacity, and level of intra-industry and extra-indus...

Analysis of Dynamic Properties of Agent Systems: Co-operating Information Agents

In this chapter a compositional analysis method for agent systems is introduced and illustrated for an example agent system for co-operative information gathering. For this example agent system as a whole, a successfulness property is formulated. It is shown how this property can be logically related to properties of agents (in particular, pro-activeness and reactiveness properties), and how th...
